About Fink
I built Fink because I like working on natural language processing and machine translation. Three ideas shape it:

Curiosity
I started out wanting to know how computers read and write human language. That question still drives most of my work on Fink.

Better text, change by change
DeepL and Google Translate give you good output. I wanted a tool that also helps you improve it and tells you the reason for each change.

Independent and European
Fink runs on European infrastructure wherever I can find a good option. No investors fund it, so I decide what to build based on what users ask for.
Translation can bring people closer together. I want Fink to give you a good translation fast and leave you in charge of the final text.
Your data stays in the EU
Fink processes and stores your texts and account data inside the European Union. The app runs on Hetzner servers in Helsinki, the managed Postgres database runs in Sweden, and the translations come from AI models by Mistral AI, a French company.

Why "Fink"?
In German, a "Fink" is a finch. The app's colors come from the Gimpel, the bird English speakers call the Eurasian bullfinch. I like birds, so 2% of all revenue goes to NABU e.V., Germany's largest nature conservation organization, for bird protection projects.
Rosilian, a human artist, drew the Fink mascot by hand. Fink uses no AI-generated art.
